Especially at UCLA, the word "coach" is synonymous with the legendary UCLA men's basketball coach John Wooden. Great coaches like Coach Wooden uncover the greatness in others by encouraging them to recognize their true potential, by challenging them to find the answers to their challenges within themselves, and by inspiring them to pursue excellence in all that they do. At UCLA Health, our leaders are encouraged to follow Coach Wooden's transcendent example. The second course in the CORE Leadership Series will introduce the widely-used G.R.O.W. Coaching Model, explain the importance of using an "Ask, don't tell" coaching philosophy, discuss how to flex your style with each employee using the Skill/Will Matrix, and most of all, describe how effective coaching can play a crucial role in enhancing employee engagement. At the end of this session, participants will be given the opportunity to apply their newly-acquired skills during a coaching session.
